During one of Anne Black’s many journeys to the porcelain centre Bat Tang, north of Hanoi, she was impressed by the abilities of Vietnamese painters. This is where she got the idea of creating a series with hand painted decoration. Black is Blue are regular shapes with a classic blue pattern. This decoration is painted on the inside to show that beauty comes from within.
