Anna-Carin Dahl
HANDMADE CERAMICS HOMEWARES
Anna-Carin Dahl is a product designer and maker of ceramic objects.
Anna-Carin creates lively, light and playful ceramic objects for everyday use and joy. Her collections are decorated with animals and plants from the deepest Scandinavian forests and each carry a little scene or story.
Her studio is currently placed in the design collective Designer Zoo in Copenhagen, Denmark. Her products are made and decorated by hand in the studio and her inspiration is strongly influenced by her Swedish background. Anna-Carin now also produces some of her pieces in Hanoi at a fair trade factory, before applying the decals in Copenhagen.
Dahl graduated from Danmarks Designskole in 2002 and has since supplemented her education by attending masterclasses at the Pilchuck Glass School and at The Studio, in Corning USA. Previously she spent two years from 1991-93 studying ethnology and history of art at the University of Gothenburg. Dahl’s motifs are inspired by her childhood in the forests of Småland, Sweden. Her desire is to make her works exist in a form of tension between beauty, humour and naivetë. This approach to materials and to working in plastic materials sometimes leads her back to earlier periods of art history. Her work arises from a desire to combine childhood memories of unspoiled Swedish scenery with more of a raw, urban expression.
